| @Mysterious0Bob, yeah you're right it is a big shit box | rep5281 |
| @rep5281 Look at the fucking size of it. Isn't it obvious? Also its damn expensive and impractical to change the disks. | Mysterious0Bob |
| @rep5281 because of terrorists. | arsdag81 |
| Why did this format die? | rep5281 |
| Laserdisc was great. We could buy whatever movie we wanted an play it now we can't because the movie studios want to play Big Brother and track what we watch. | Pinhead222 |

This is and still is a fucking laserdisc the dogs fucking bollocks! I use mine on regular basis and I need to upgrade some back catalogue titles because I have now turned my back on bluray! Big epic fucking failure of format money gone to sheer total waste with bluray! Laserdisc was always good to me in its production years.
Laserdisc is not dead its only retired after serving for over 20 years.
Hail laserdisc!

| Once, when I was working in the home restoration industry, I ran across several laserdisc features. I asked the owner if they would be willing to part with them (nostalgic quality and for the art work)... a resounding "No" is what I was given. I just remember how wonderful the artwork was, and how novel it was to see when I was in my early 20s. James, love the work and your passion for the cinema. | Aramakie98 |
| Interesting video. I may actually end up buying one eventually, since there is something on a Laserdisc that I want that isn't available on DVD (or anything else but a laserdisc for that matter). This video was entertaining and informative for some info I needed to know. ^_^ | freezingicekirby |
| LaserDisc had analogpicture, but combination digital/analog sound. Its the only format I know of that does that.
a pity that they never really caught on in the western world, but in the richer parts of east asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan etc.) it was fairly popular.
I remember reading somewhere that it was the main format rented movies came in in Hong Kong thru most of the 90s. | spacehelmetforacow |
| I still have that, it's good, but it sometimes keep repeating certain scenes | roboguy75 |

| @xan1242 ..... Yeah, if you have a Laseractive with the Sega module. You could also play PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 games on it with the NEC module. | otakujhp |
| You can play Sega CD games on LaserDisc player | xan1242 |
| With a proper player (HLD-X9 or LD-S9) on a high quality analog display, or on a high quality external de-interlacer / scaler and a modern digital display, laserdisc can be almost indistinguishable from DVD.. Laserdisc audio is also fantastic, and actually exceeds the quality found on most DVDs.
I love Laserdisc and personally feel the format got shafted. It wasn't marketed well, and no one gave a shit about home theater back in those days. :( | otakujhp |
